Haiku, a collection designed by Studio Pepe, comes in three shapes combined to create different models. The number three is a constant source of inspiration in the work of Carlo Scarpa and in the threedimensional rhythm of his architecture in cement as well as in the three dimensions of each piece of work that, playing with light, creates new surfaces in continuation. Hence the name haiku, that refers to the poetic form in Japanese literature encapsulating a universal meaning in three simple verses. Just as with haiku, that in its essence involves long and patient linguistic reflection, the Haiku Collection conceals not just a challenge from a technical point of view, requiring considerable refinement at the early stage, in other words infinite patience and manual dexterity, but also the use of perpendicular lines, at odds with the very nature of the ceramic material and thus all the more striking.
